It’s been a good day.
Maybe it’s because I slept pretty well that I decided to go “all out” with the boys today. Maybe I was feeling lucky or brave, or maybe I’m just plain crazy. Lol! I decided to take them to a movie AND a party. 🙈
Autism Tennessee was hosting a sensory friendly showing of The Grinch at a local theater. I like that movie and what a great time to take the boys since it was specifically for special needs kids. My little guys were excited. They munched on popcorn and waited for the movie to start. Jake finished his not long after the movie started and would get fidgety. I started “bribing” him with single pieces of mine. They both did very well and only had to be scolded a few times. We were able to make it all the way to the end. Woohoo!! Huge win!
Because they did so well, I decided we would head to a special needs Christmas party being hosted by the Nashville PD. It was scheduled from 11-2 and we walked in about 11:30, but everyone was incredibly nice. They had lunch, characters, cake, Santa, and gifts. Even though the pictures don’t really show it, the boys had a blast!! It was an incredible event that they host yearly. They said it’s because they want these kids to feel loved and protected. ♥️
I firmly stand by my theory… my boys won’t learn how to act in public unless I take them in public. Today held two new experiences for them. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a success.
